Ebola: Awareness and Guidance First Provided in Dallas
Emergency training sessions conducted, information distributed to all regions
Jani-King of Dallas, with support and guidance from Jani-King International, brought together 77 people for emergency Ebola training after two cases of the virus were discovered in the Dallas area. Attending the training sessions were local Jani-King franchise owners and their employees who work in healthcare environments.
Tony Joyner from the Dallas regional office spearheaded the training and organized multiple sessions to make best use of the space provided and also to work around the schedules of franchisees. The training was conducted over two-days with multiple sessions taking place.
According to Bob Carabajal, Director of Healthcare Services for Jani-King International, the information was well received by the attendees and helped to answer many of their concerns. “This was an awareness and guidance training session that delivered facts about Ebola and Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations on proper use of PPE’s and proper disinfection of areas that had been exposed to the Ebola virus.”
Topics covered during the session included:
What is Ebola
How to prevent infection
How to clean an effected area
Donning/Removal of PPE
The information from the training sessions in Dallas was also presented at the 2014 Masters Meeting that took place on October 23 in Charleston, SC. The purpose of this was to gain feedback from Master Franchisees and address questions they may have for their regions. The final Ebola training information was then delivered in presentation format to all Jani-King regional offices to be used in their regions.
