Tell us about the new account that you signed. Was there anything unique or challenging that you had to overcome?
We have actually been working with this customer for quite a while, but we were finally able to convince the facilities manager to put the day porter on a monthly service contract, as well as an increase to the nightly services. It was a combination of persistence, listening to what the customer needed, and follow through.

How has being a Jani-King franchise owner changed your life?
We lead the life we have come to appreciate BECAUSE we own a Jani-King franchise. We do not believe that we would have been able to have this way of life had we chosen to stay in the corporate world. Our answer to the question, “How are you?” is usually “Just living the dream.” And that’s because we believe we really are.
What advice would you have for a new franchise owner or for someone considering this opportunity?
We would recommend that they plan on working hard, plan on long hours, make communication with their customers a priority, and that if they come to have employees, that they value them as much as customers. “Take care of your employees, and they will take care of you.”
How has being associated with the Jani-King brand or simply being a part of Jani-King benefited your business?
Because we have always had a strong franchise accounting manager in the regional office, we are able to focus more on our customers and employees and less on the accounting end of our business. We constantly go to our Regional Director for advice and support, and are happy to keep those lines of communication open so they are mutually beneficial.
