3 Problem Areas in Schools

You’re probably on edge most of the time if you’re a school administrator. As you’re aware, teaching children and molding their minds is only part of your job. On top of that, you also must make sure your students are protected from danger, inclement weather and viruses/germs.

We can help you with the viruses/germs part. Jani-King specializes in cleaning schools, daycare centers and universities. School cleaning is a big part of what we do and given the importance of our young kids, we believe the great work we do at schools and daycares help keep viruses a bay, especially during the flu season.

We know that children can get sick anywhere, but if we have anything to say about it, they won’t pick up viruses and germs at school.

The Bathrooms: There are times when children don’t make it to the bathroom in time. Often, they forget to flush. Yes, it can be beyond unpleasant to think about what can happen in a school bathroom, and you probably don’t need convincing that the bathrooms need to be cleaned daily. You have somebody covering the cleaning of the bathrooms already.

Still, is a deed clean or disinfecting service being done? Is your custodial staff cleaning the doorknob on the inside of the bathroom? It may look like the cleanest part of a school bathroom, but that’s what every kid – who doesn’t wash his or her hands after going to the restroom – touches on their way out into the halls. What about the soap dispenser?

Handles are touched by every student that washes their hands. Even a bathroom that looks clean may not be as clean as you think.

The Floors: It seems like a given that you’re going to make sure floors are clean, during the winter, it’s especially important. Kids’ sneakers bring in dirt and road salt with toxic chemicals. Slush, snow and mud are tracked in as well, which means that essentially anything kids are stepping on is coming into your school. For instance, if someone steps into something a dog leaves behind in the grass, that’ll soon be in school all over the floors and people’s shoes. That’s gross but Jani-King is here to help you every day and make sure if this happens, we are here to clean and disinfect the areas that need attention.

The Classrooms: This area can be the worst for germs. Remember you need to make sure everything is cleaned in the classroom light switches, doorknobs, floors, desks and chairs since all these items are often touched all day so they need to be cleaned and disinfected.  Don’t forget if you have carpets, those need to be thoroughly vacuumed since classroom carpet is usually full of dust as well as dust mites, pollen and bacteria.

We could go on and on, but other areas need to be cleaned like common areas, lobbies, hallways and cafeterias to fight against dirt and germs. Also, the type of equipment that is used is very important when cleaning. You are, in a sense, going into battle against germs, and you must be careful what you use, or people can get hurt in the process.

What you use to clean your school, matters. As a green commercial cleaning company, we don’t use cleaning chemicals that can harm people and kids in your school. We don’t want our franchise owners and their team members working with harmful toxic chemicals. We don’t want our clients, especially little children, to be around and breathe in harsh chemicals.
