Jani-King of Denver Franchise Owner Shares His Secrets to Success

Q: Tell us about your latest commercial cleaning account signing;

A: I signed FlightSafety the old fashioned way. For weeks I created the possibility of a sales and marketing work activity. I started every morning for two weeks, many times after working all night, and went from building to building passing out my business card and brochure that was tailored to the client’s needs. Every time I interacted with the front desk I would ask to speak with the facility manager or who was in charge of making decisions regarding cleaning and maintain the building. It was also important to always ask for a business card. That way I would have a name, number, and email to add to my pipeline. Then I would follow up diligently with voicemails and email reminders that I had visited the building offering service. Eventually after two months of regular follow up I got the call. So far in our first two months of serving FlightSafety we have gotten “9s” on our rating sheets and extra work within the building is being added. Persistence is key to obtaining new business.

denver janitorial franchisee jani kingQ:  What are the benefits of Jani-King’s system and regional office?

A:  The benefits of the system are the well-known name and branding along with the support. I also enjoy not having to do our own accounts receivables.

Q:  What is your philosophy pertaining to clients?

A: Commercial cleaning is more about communication and relationship building more than anything else. We all will get complaints from time to time but it is how we handle them that sets us apart.

Q:  What makes you successful?

A:  I measure my success not by how much money I make, although we do very well, I measure my success by how much time I can control for myself and family. The more free time I have to be fully present for my children and wife I consider that a success!

Q:  Where do you see yourself over the next few years?

A:  In five years I see our janitorial services franchise gross billing over $100,000 a month and being able to employ more people in the Denver Metro Area. I see us bringing a higher standard to the industry.
