Proving once again that cold calls can lead to business, Jani-King of Mexico has signed one of the country’s premier attractions. Located in Colonia Polanco, an upscale neighborhood that is home to gleaming office towers, and across the street from the Soumaya art museum, Aquarium Inbursa features 230 species of sea life and occupies 11,500 square feet in Mexico City.
“I was passing by the construction site of the aquarium and asked someone from their marketing department to call Jani-King to offer our services,” said Regional Director for the Mexico City region, Mr. Alfredo Martínez Zapata. “It was a little challenging to make the right proposal because the construction wasn’t yet completed, but we were able to work with them to get a full understanding of their requirements.”
“The Aquarium is a very important account for us, so we did our best to win the contract by accommodating different services in the proposal process according to the days of the week and offering the hardest and heavy work on weekends and holidays.”
During the days previous to the inauguration, franchisees from Jani-King of Mexico had to work very hard to bring the aquarium to its best condition including the cleaning of floors and transparent fish tanks.
“The inauguration brought over 2000 visitors,” said Zapata. “Since its opening, the Aquarium has had a lot of success, and to this date, it has received thousands of visitors. This is the only Aquarium in Mexico City which makes it a highly visited tourist attraction and a very special project for Jani-King.”
The building is a five-level triangular structure that includes a 400,000-gallon glass tank where blue, yellow, orange and green fish swam among sharks and manta rays. On another floor there are several types of jellyfish and a separate massive fish tank housing piranhas, crocodiles and tiny turtles. There is also a small lagoon where visitors can touch rays. All the levels, with the exception of one, are underground.
According to Alejandro Nasta, the aquarium’s director, he hopes the aquarium will eventually become home to as many as 10,000 marine animals belonging to 307 different species, including penguins, which are among the main attractions that have not yet been brought to the aquarium.
