Utah Power & Light
and Albertson’s grocery stores have both selected Jani-King
of Utah as their exclusive provider for commercial cleaning
services. Albertson’s has 49 locations throughout the state
totaling over 2.4 million square feet and Utah Power & Light
has approximately 500,000 square feet in facility space.
“Cost, quality, and consistency were leading factors in
Albertson’s decision to choose Jani-King,” said Jay
Chand, Account Executive with Jani-King of Utah.
“Albertson’s corporate mission is all about operational
efficiency.”
Four franchise owners will employ up to 75
staff members to service the 49 locations throughout the state.
As outlined in the three-year contract with Albertson’s,
Jani-King will be responsible for the cleaning of all floors,
bathrooms, and trash receptacles on a daily basis while
management offices, the bakery, and storage areas will be cleaned
once per week.
Previously, Albertson’s had four separate
cleaning companies servicing the different locations. According
to an Albertson’s spokesperson, by outsourcing to Jani-King
the company will see significant cost savings.
Utah Power and
Light also pulled the plug from another cleaning company and
re-signed Jani-King as their sole provider. “In this case,
Jani-King was selected due to the superior service previously
displayed by our franchisees,” said Chand. Jani-King
franchise owners Jesus Regalme and Frank Volkert initially
serviced the UPL account, but lost it to a lower bid. After only
one year of using the other company, UPL was unsatisfied with the
service and felt they were not receiving the quality they had
become accustomed to.
“Jesus Regalme and Frank Volkert were
instrumental in getting UPL’s business back,” said Bob
Evens, master franchise owner of Salt Lake City. “Jay Chand
was also able to convert the previous agreement, which consisted
of two UPL facilities, into a statewide contract.” The
facilities include two office buildings, one power plant, and
multiple service centers located in Ogden, Salt Lake City,
Milford, Saint George, and Cedar City. Combined, the total
cleaning area is just over 500,000 square feet.
